This is why I'm with her:
What an incredible debate.
Last night, Hillary Clinton showed us what it means to stand up for what’s right. After Donald Trump proudly trumpeted his NRA endorsement, Hillary put things into perspective:
Toddlers injure themselves, even kill people with guns, because, unfortunately, not everyone who has loaded guns in their homes takes appropriate precautions.
But there's no doubt that I respect the Second Amendment, that I also believe there's an individual right to bear arms. That is not in conflict with sensible, common-sense regulation.
Of course we're going to protect and defend the Second Amendment. But we're going to do it in a way that tries to save some of these 33,000 lives that we lose every year.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Enough is enough: It’s time for our leaders to stand up to the gun lobby and address the gun violence epidemic – and that’s exactly what I’m doing in Congress.
Together, we can build a future where parents can drop their kids off at school and let them play at a friend’s house without fearing for their safety. That’s why I’m working hard in Congress to pass common-sense laws that will save lives and help keep our communities safe from gun violence.
With your support, we can make it happen.
